Are You Aware of Affiliation Rules? (November 2000)

Please be aware that USAG has imposed rules regarding affiliation of officials assigned to meets. The regulations are not designed to prevent affiliated judges from judging, but are intended to prevent unfair situations. Pursuant to page 87 of the Rules and Policies, an affiliated judge is a family member of a competing gymnast, a coach or club owner of a competing gymnast, a family member of a coach or club owner of a competing gymnast, a person who is on the payroll of a competing club, and a team member or parent of a team member of a competing club. If you are affiliated, you may be assigned as a panel judge. If the meet is using one-judge panels, approval of using an affiliated judge must come from the RTC. In order to be sure that we follow the rules set forth, it is important that you notify P.J. Slater of your affiliation.
